Solemn Investiture Commemorating the 20th Anniversary since the Founding of the Grand Priory of Brazil

After several years without holding ceremonies in the city of São Paulo, the Grand Priory of Brazil celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem in Brazil by means of a Solemn Investiture on August 15, 2026, at Paróquia Santo Agostinho - SP.

In a solemn event that evokes our ancestral roots and connects us to the time of crusades and the defence of Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem, in the company of partners, friends and authorities, we celebrated this millennial history, these historical and chivalrous roots.

Under the authority of the Grand Chancellor of the United Grand Priories of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus, Knight Grand Cross Max J Ellul, one of the main figures responsible for the beginning of activities in Brazil in 2006, and who travelled especially from Malta for this occasion, the Grand Prior of Brazil of the Order of Saint Lazarus received new members, promoted old members and decorated others.

Reaffirming a partnership of more than a decade, we had the joy and honour of once again being able to count on the presence of an important delegation from Guarda Civil Metropolitana - São Paulo, led by its General Commander Inspector General Jairo Chabaribery Filho, and with the Guarda Civil Band that brightened the ceremony, receiving enthusiastic praise from the Grand Chancellor.

The first Medals of the Jubilee were officially awarded at the ceremony by the Grand Prior to the Grand-Chancellor and to the Supreme Grand Prior of the Order, His Royal Highness Sandor Habsburg-Lothringen, Archduke of Austria and Prince of Tuscany.

The recognition and celebration of old and important partnerships and friendships took place with the awarding of the Jubilee Medal and a special certificate to the representatives of the associations and organizations that were with us at the ceremony, including the  Consulate of Malta in São Paulo, the Consulate of France, the Consulate of Austria, the José Pedro de Oliveira Foundation, ARIE Mata de Santa Genebra, Aparecido Da Cruz Sobraph, União SãoLázaro Brasil0, Tony Balad, Ângelo Madeira, with a special emphasis on União São LázaroBrasil1, whose members acted as bearers of the flags and guardians of the sword, for which the São Lázaro Brasil Union awarded the Asas Humanitárias trophy for their dedication and vocation in fulfilling their missions.
