Grand Priory of Libya transits from Tripoli to Benghazi

The Commandery of Tripoli of the Order was one of the oldest jurisdictions which were sanctioned by the United Grand Priories by the past Grand Chancellor of the Order, Fra John Baron von Hoff GCLJ GCMLJ. Led by the Chevalier Stefan Hogan KLJ, it was based in Tripoli and was later upgraded to a Grand Priory. Unfortunately during the Libyan civil war and the chaos ensuing from series of events in this delicate period of Libyan history, all the active members of the Grand Priory were evacuated from Tripoli and the Grand Priory ceased to operate for a lengthy period of time.

The Grand Chancery of the Order has been for some time now working with a number of members of the Order in order to find the suitable candidate to lead the Grand Priory and revive Hospitaller work in Libya. Aided by the Grand Prior of Kosovo, the Chevalier Alban Hoti, Grand Chancellor Dr Massimo J Ellul commenced meetings with a suitable candidate who was very active socially, commercially and philanthropically in Benghasi. The Chevalier Stenton Kacaniku (born September 17, 1988) is an Albanian  businessman and advisor, currently serving as the CEO of Spore  Finance, Inc., a private equity firm focused on emerging markets in the Western Balkans and Africa. He is also a member of the Forbes  Business Council and an Executive Advisor at BWA Deutschland. He attended various schools across America and Europe before earning an LLM in International Commercial Law from the University of Salford, a top business school in the UK.

Stenton has managed to create an impressive team of officers for the Grand Priory of Libya and in October 2026, he was appointed as the new Grand Prior of Libya.

The Supreme Grand Priory wishes this new team all the very best and looks forward to various initiatives in Libya.ly
